- The Wisdom of yoga: history and philosophy, ancient wisdom made practical for today; what the creators of Yoga left for us; cleansing techniques are known as Satkarma, Dhyan (Meditation), Mudra and Bandha
- Understanding the different types of yoga and comparing them to the modern style of yoga; how yoga has been modified worldwide so you can be conscious of how these new modified styles of yoga have strayed from traditional (original) yoga.
- Studying ashtanga, Hatha in detail and a general overview of bhakti, Gyana, karma, mantra, kundalini, and tantra
- Understanding the lifestyle of a yogi through Yogic food, daily rituals, social and individual ethics
- Learning yogic Sanskrit terms such as asana names, pranayamas, mantras, within the Sanatan system;
- Asanas: modifications, variations, applied anatomy, proper alignment & adjustments, health benefits & precautions; cueing, sequencing, key tips for all levels
- Play Time (free time, extended time): core, arm balances, inversions, hip & chest openers, advanced asanas, partner poses, and lots of fun;
- The Art of Sequencing: Creating Your proper sequence for your Personal Practice as well a sequence for Teaching an individual or a Group of all levels;
- Pranayama: The history as well as the benefits, precautions and many techniques to practice different pranayamas, gaining an understanding of different prana energies
- Shakti (Different types of inner power), the Anatomy of Energy, Koshas, Gunas, Chakras different types of yogic bodies and Nadis;
- Teaching Tools: Voice, Language, Instructing, Encouraging, Modifying and Principles of demonstration; Giving gentle and supportive Hands on Adjustments, verbal cues, and effective assistance
- Teaching practice: Creating a safe curriculum and a sequence of asanas by including counter postures and knowing proper modifications and adjustments, safely leading a class through an asanas’ workshop, pranayama practice, and guided meditation holding space and being present; understanding the student’s process of learning and assisting them according to their needs
- Therapeutic yoga: healing injuries, supplements, and food; (can add more)
- Mentoring: observing, assisting, personal guidance, Principles of Communication skills, Principles of Observation, assisting/ adjustment and correction
- Extra Activities: Jungle/Countryside Hiking, Temple Hiking, adventuring through cities in Nepal, Bungee Jumping, Paragliding, Rafting, World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu, Sunrise Mountain Flights over the Himalayas (These activities are available upon request, as they are not included in our program)
Assessment
The trainee will be assessed on attendance, lesson planning, practicum, mantra chanting, leading a workshop, they will have to teach a philosophy lesson and on-going observations during classes by the teacher. Trainees will receive valuable feedback on their teaching practices from both the teacher and students. You will be required to meet certain teaching standards regarding the subject, knowledge of anatomy, asana sequence, and alignments, verbal and physical adjustments counter poses, relaxation, modification and communication.
Assessment Preparation
We do many workshops on teaching methodology in pairs, and small groups to improve all teaching qualities and to minimize nervousness.
- Verbal questions and answers on topics such as Sanskrit terminology, keywords, asanas, pranayamas, sequencing, benefits, and precautions throughout the classes
- Spontaneous student teaching of any mantra, pranayama or asana without preparation
- Small Group teaching to prepare for teaching an entire class with feedback from students and teachers.
Assessment (Evaluation & Certification)
- Assessments will be based on practical evaluation and sometimes written as well
- Student conduct will be a part of the assessment criterion.
- Evaluation will be carried out only for those students who have a minimum of 90% attendance.
- Practicum teaches one pranayama session, one asana workshop, one full yoga session, and one philosophy presentation with constructive feedback from your fellow students and teachers. If a student seems to be unprepared for any one of these evaluations, they may be asked to repeat anyone of them
Graduation Ceremony
- Physical Graduation:Completing the 108 Sun Salutation, so that students feel physically ready to be a yoga practitioner and teacher. (This is only suggested for those without any physical injury or illness).
- Academic Graduation:Handing over of the certification of course completion.
- Spiritual Graduation:Special Fire ceremony with traditional costumes for both male and female that symbolizes taking a spiritual oath to live a yogic life and teach authentic yoga.
After these three graduations, you are building confidence and making a commitment to continue these fruitful techniques in your life and to pass it on to others as a teacher.
Requirements/ Eligibility
- An open mind, learning attitude, motivated and to become a well-intentioned yoga teacher.
- We have a yoga community including people of all backgrounds so one should have respect and acceptance for different cultures, religions, personal habits as we want to help each other and learn from each other.
- Applicants with a beginner/ intermediate practice are welcome to apply for our training provided they can display a high level of self-discipline during the course as it is physically, mentally and spiritually demanding and also highly rewarding.
- Chronic health issues, As you have to practice many asana/ pranayama/ workshop classes during a day. Before confirming the booking please share with us any health issue.
- 16 years and above.
- Basic education in reading and writing English
